Once the pride of the Goulburn Valley, the Trawool Estate had been left derelict for years until it was purchased in 2018.

Once the pride of the Goulburn Valley, the Trawool Estate had been left derelict for years until it was purchased in 2018.

Although the building’s history was significant, the owners decided to create a clean, modern aesthetic — similar to a Melbourne CBD establishment. Designed by Neutral Instinct, the renovated hotel is now a stylish and tranquil oasis in the bush.

The lighting was a vital element of the design, and careful consideration was taken to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Custom-made pendants, wall lights and table lamps were used throughout the dining room and guest rooms to provide a classic aesthetic with a simple modern twist. This theme also carried through to the corridors and wet areas.

In the rooms, guests can unwind with zero glare. We provided custom One AU linear LEDs, which were tucked into the feature bedhead to highlight the original brick walls. The guest room bathrooms have exceptionally high-quality One AU recessed Harrow 45 linear LED profiles over the vanities to ensure future brides and wedding guests can get ready with shadow-free illuminance.

Beautiful One AU Bentley low glare downlights have been used throughout the project. While the Bentley range has been used extensively, due to its exceptional flexibility, pendants and precision track mounted spotlights highlight tables and other features.

Beautifully illuminated mature gum trees will warmly greet residents arriving late on a Friday night for a weekend getaway. iGuzzini luminaires have been used throughout the garden to highlight the stunning countryside.
